What about "Water Theorapy?"

26march

SIR, I HAVE NO ONE TO PUT ME INTO THE POOL WHEN THE WATER IS STIRRED UP." (Jn. 5:1-16)

Have you heard of "Water Therapy?"

Most people take this advice. Indeed, water heals.

What about "Water Theorapy?"

In the gospel, people believed that the stirring water of a pool at the Sheep Gate was curative. However, this lame man was unable to immerse himself in the water. He was just lying on his mat.

Waiting for the movement of the water, the lame man needed someone's help.

That man's MAT was symbolic of his sin.

It was there that he was enslaved for there was a belief that his condition was due to his sins.

But Jesus freed him!

In the powerful words of Jesus, "Take up your mat and walk," he obeyed.

Thus, it was not the water that healed him but Jesus. The water in the pool was just instrumental in healing.

We also have to find our POOL.

By the waters of baptism, we are healed by Jesus.

He was the one prophesied by Ezekiel, "I saw water flowing out from beneath the threshold of the temple" (Ez. 47:1-9,12). It was described by the prophet as trickled water that swelled into a river and brought life wherever it flowed. Jesus was the water that gave life.

Sin makes us lame. But Jesus comes to HELP. We just need to obey.

Lent is a time for us to stand up, carry our own mat and walk. It is a time to be refreshed by the waters of baptism.

LIGO na! Water sanitises as well as saves.

Jesus' advice is not just "Water Therapy," but "Water THEOrapy."

In finding a cure for COVID-19, it is always our hope that Jesus the CHRIST will come to our need for healing.
