1.INDEXSMADHR     In the Philippines, it is a tradition in the Catholic Church to devote each month of the year to a certain religious observance. The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. It is celebrated in many parts of the country with special acts of devotion in honor of the Blessed Mother.

In SMAD for October, aside from praying the “Hail Mary” to start and end the classes every day, the song, “O Queen of the Holy Rosary”, sets the ambiance on the campus to prepare everyone for the Morning Prayer. Moreover, the whole educative community all united spiritually gathered together every Wednesday at 3:10 pm to meditate on the life of Jesus and Mary by praying the Holy Rosary.

As a community, it is our way of expressing gratitude to the Holy Mother for her maternal love, protection, and intercession. We also believe that praying the Rosary has the power to bring impact to the lives of our loved ones, families, and community where we belong. Intentions were offered to all those inflicted by the COVID 19 pandemic.

The first three Wednesdays were facilitated by different Emmaus groups reflecting on the Joyful, Luminous, and Sorrowful mysteries of the rosary. The Glorious mystery was recited during the Culmination day, headed by the Pastoral team last October 28, 2020, at 2:40 in the afternoon. Live singing of Marian songs by selected teachers added to the solemnity of the occasion.

Truly, Pope Francis in his encyclical declared: “Not only do we earnestly exhort all Christians to give themselves to the recital of the pious devotion of the Rosary publicly as a community, but we also desire that the whole of October … should be consecrated to the Holy Queen of the Rosary.” He believes that the rosary is of great benefit to the Catholic world because it is effective in “removing the calamities of our time.”
