Little Hearters Meet Firefighters

Last Saturday September 11, 2015 was a great adventure for the Kinder II pupils of Sacred Heart School – Hijas de Jesus as they went out on a field trip to visit the Cebu Filipino - Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade. What an exciting and unforgettable way to learn about the Helpers in our Community!

One little boy asked, “Mr. Fireman, are you afraid of the fire?” to which the fireman answered, “Yes, I am afraid of the fire, but I had to learn to fight it and be brave so I can save those who are afraid and weak.”

The pupils were taught basic things to do like to “Stop, Drop and Roll” when one’s clothes catch fire, or to keep low and crawl on the ground when there is smoke.

Many thanks to two of our parents who are also firefighter volunteers, for the sharing and demonstration -- Mr. Tanchan and Mr. Gocuan, whose two sons have followed in his footsteps as well.
