“SO THE FATHER DIVIDED THE PROPERTY BETWEEN THE TWO SONS.”

“Love is all that matters, faithful and forever,” the lyrics from a popular love song of Eric Carmen.

In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, we see these characteristics of what true love is: faithful and forever.

The father’s love enables him to give and forget, while the sons get and forget.

The younger son gets the inheritance but forgets its real purpose. Instead he uses it in dissolute living.

The elder son gets jealous with the younger son for the things he does not receive like a goat for him to feast with his friends. He forgets that all he possesses is his. His love for his father in serving him is CONDITIONAL.

They are not truly grateful so they became forgetful.

LET US BE GRATEFUL.

God shows us how generous He is in his love and forgiveness. After all, “His love is all that matters, faithful and forever.”
