JOHN 4:5-42

“WHOEVER DRINKS OF THE WATER I SHALL GIVE WILL NEVER BE THIRSTY."

Thirsty?

Sprite says, “Obey your thirst!”

Thirst is a painful feeling caused by having nothing to drink : a strong craving for anything.

The Samaritan woman goes to Jacob’s well to fetch water to satisfy her thirst. But aside from the physical thirst, she is thirsty for something more: acceptance, love, forgiveness, happiness true faith.

She goes to the well at noon, avoiding people because she is ashamed of her sin, having an illicit affair. She has had five husbands and the man she is now with is not her husband.

People judge her, condemn her, discriminate her.

Jesus quenches her deepest thirst, He says to her:”WHOEVER DRINKS THE WATER THAT I WILL GIVE SHALL NEVER BE THIRSTY. He reveals to her not only her sin but the love of God who listens, accepts and cares.

Lent is a time to “quench” our deepest thirsts.

Mountain Dew says, “Do the DEW!”

Or should we say, “Do the JEW!” After all, salvation comes from the Jews.”

Remember what Pepsi says, “Sarap Magbago!”.

Coke affirms, “Sakto!”
