An Experience of the Church as People of God-in Naic

Naic 1

The community of Ciudad Nuevo in Naic, Cavite is a Church in its true sense. Each member headed by Rev. Fr. Nestor Isagani Avinante, the parish priest of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is inspired and very much moved as they strive to complete the construction of their chapel which is said to become a parish in the future.

As it is being built, the seed of faith that has planted in the heart of each one, young and old, male and female, rich and poor, coming from different provinces is now filled with the desire to love and serve the Lord. Thanks to the guidance and support of the Hijas de Jesus Sisters led by their local superior, Sr. Leoly Quitorio, F.I., who continuously give service and formation to the people including the children and the youth. This concretizes the evangelizing mission that is rooted in the Gospel, and is carried out in the heart of the marginalized in this part of the world.

Fulfilling the dream to live as a Church is vividly seen when they celebrated the feast of Saint Candida Maria de Jesus last August 9, 2018. Around 20 Manresa School Faculty and Staff have witnessed this kind of celebration as they joined them in the different activities which started with the morning street procession of the image of Saint Candida, visiting the Hills View, Apolonia, and Pasinaya Homes. Then, it culminated with a Eucharistic celebration to thank God and to honor their second patroness, Saint Candida.

After the Mass, there was a joyful interaction of the BEC mothers with the Manresa community, with laughter and sharing of faith-life experiences. The agape in the house of the Sisters was more than the eating but a celebration of unity in diversity. It also symbolized a strong sense of belonging to the family of Hijas de Jesus, making known to all that the Church, which they have been constructing, will soon be finished, and in its true sense, because of the community that they have been building for Christ, and with Saint Candida and Mother Mary as their patron saints.
