Water Therapy

"SIR, I HAVE NO ONE TO PUT ME INTO THE POOL WHEN THE WATER IS STIRRED UP." (Jn.5:1-16)

"Water Therapy!" An advice by most people to those who seek for healing using water. Indeed, water heals.

Waiting for the movement of the water, a man who had been ill for a long time, needed someone's help.

People believed that the stirring water of a pool at the Sheep Gate was curative. However, this lame man was unable to immerse himself in the water. He was just lying on his mat.

The man's MAT was symbolic of his:

M-istakes
A-nd
T-respasses

It was there that he was enslaved. But Jesus freed him.

Jesus came to help and to heal in his need. In the powerful words of Jesus, "he obeyed. He took up his mat and walked.

It was not the water that healed him. It was Jesus. The water in the POOL was just instrumental in healing.

By the waters of baptism, we are healed by Jesus.

He was the one prophesied by Ezekiel, "I saw water flowing out from beneath the threshold of the temple." It was described by the prophet as trickled water that swelled into a river and brought life wherever it flowed. Jesus was the water that gave life.

Now, in our being lame because of sin, Jesus comes to HELP. We just need to obey.
Lent is a time for us to stand up, carry our own mat and walk. It is a time to be refreshed by the waters of baptism.

With the many sins we have done, maybe we need to take a bath in order to be healed.

LIGO na!

L-ent is an
I-nvitation of
G-od for us to
O-bey!

Jesus' advice is not just "Water Therapy," but maybe "Water THEOrapy."
