HUMILITY

2. Humility

"FOR EVERYONE WHO EXALTS HIMSELF WILL BE HUMBLED, BUT THE ONE WHO HUMBLES HIMSELF WILL BE EXALTED." (Lk.14:1,7-11)

Christian life is always an invitation to humility.

Invited by a leading Pharisee to meal, Jesus observed that there were invited guests who chose the places of honor at table.

The meal was turned into an occasion for outranking others, for social climbing, for improving social status and for impressing others.

Jesus' table manner was about humility in order to be honored. Sirach instructed, "Humble yourself the more, the greater you are, and you will find favor with God" (Sir.3:17-18,20,28-29).

Thus, this is how we become great - by being HUMBLE!

God dwells in people who are humble. "Humility in the life of a believer is the mark of greatness not because a believer shines when he or she is humbled but because God shines in his or her very person."

Thank you.
