Useless or Useful?

useful or useless

"ACCOMPANYING HIM WERE THE TWELVE AND SOME WOMEN WHO HAD BEEN CURED OF EVIL SPIRITS AND INFIRMITIES... AND MANY OTHERS WHO PROVIDED FOR THEM OUT OF THEIR RESOURCES." (Lk.8:1-3)

Useless or useful?

When Jesus did his ministry of teaching and preaching, there were those who helped him. In whatever practical means, they contributed to the needs of Jesus.

Who were those people? Were they the most influential and the most popular? No! Were they the most intellectual and most righteous? No! Were they the most brave according to the perception of the world!? No!

They were actually the lost and the last in the community. They were the most unworthy and even the useless. They were the most coward. They were the poor of the Lord. They were like Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Susana, and Timothy.

Paul urged Timothy, a man of God, to pursue righteousness. "Pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness" (1Tim.6:2c-12).

We are called by the Lord in spite our failures and faults. In the reality of our weakness and limitation, God's grace gives us the strength and power.

We are useless (servants) but God uses us in order to be USEFUL (servants).

"Blessed the poor in spirit; the kingdom of heaven in theirs." (Psalm 49)

In spirit, may we be poor and useful!
