A Heartfelt Reflection on my New Mission in Indonesia

A Heartfelt Reflection on my New Mission in Indonesia

I arrived in Ruteng City last May 11, 2024. Exactly 15 days today, the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity.  Reflecting on my mission in Indonesia I am deeply moved by the kindness and warmth of the people especially those families within our community area, in Leda, Rembong. I thank God for giving me the occasion to meet our neighbors through the Block Rosary every night. I am so amazed by families attending the Rosary prayers about a hundred of them every night. The space of the houses especially their receiving room is created for community purposes like community prayer

Their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is evident in the hearts of many, showcasing a strong faith that remains pure and untainted by the influence of media. Witnessing such unwavering dedication is truly inspiring in a world where external forces often shape beliefs. Indonesians and Manggarai people embody a genuine spirit of compassion and Faith, creating a sense of community that is both heartwarming and uplifting. This experience has enriched my mission and reaffirmed the power of Faith and kindness in connecting individuals and communities. The strong sense of community and tradition in the area helps to preserve the authenticity of religious practices keeping the focus on Faith and spirituality rather than external influences. This unique cultural context sets the Manggarai people apart regarding how Faith is experienced and expressed compared to other countries where media plays a more prominent role in shaping religious beliefs.

I thank God for this opportunity to be on a mission in Indonesia. My two-week experience had been truly life-changing. The warmth and hospitality of the people have touched my heart in ways I never imagined. Their kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit have inspired me to be a better person and to appreciate the beauty of diversity and cultural exchange.

Thank you, Lord, for this incredible opportunity. I am forever grateful.
