LENTEN JOURNEY – 2nd SUNDAY OF LENT
MAR 15

On this Second Sunday of Lent, the word “obey” resonates with us, a word which comes from the Latin ob-audire. It means to listen attentively. It reminds us that being docile to the Spirit is, above all, an act of openness, listening and acceptance. With this desire, we continue our Lenten journey towards General Congregation XIX to deepen the second part of the Prayer for the 19th GC:
Grant us to be docile to the Spirit,
the grace of discernment
which invites us to examine the paths we have traveled
and to choose what today would give more life to
this Body in Mission.
The Word illumines us…
Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem… While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.
Lk 9: 28b-36
St. Candida invites us…
“Even if you encounter obstacles and stumbling blocks, keep forward on the path I have started. To those who serve me, remember what I teach you in following your will because I am pleased to see you strive to fulfill it. Be encouraged to overcome the difficulties and follow my voice; I will communicate to you what you must do.”

It helps us…
Recall an experience which you have had of authentic listening.
What was it like?
What have you been moved to do?
What did you do as a response?
