Transmission of the 19th General Congregation in Indonesia

Indonesia – The transmission of the 19th (GC) took place in Indonesia on September 12-13, 2025, at the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Novitiate in Kuwu. The event commenced with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Fredy, SVD. Sr. Leoly Quitorio, the new Provincial Superior of Indico Pacific Province, and Sr. Thelma Barbarona, GC delegate, facilitated the transmission.

The postulants performed a Manggarai welcoming ceremony for Sr. Leoly and Sr. Thelma. This ceremony is a traditional expression of respect for guests, demonstrating hospitality, promoting local culture, emphasizing spiritual connections, and fostering a sense of togetherness.

A prayer for creation resonated deeply within the venue, enhanced by the natural surroundings of mountains, trees, and flowers. The song, "Nourished by the Hands of the Lord," with lyrics such as "Our God answers all our needs," reflected a shared experience within the community.

Srs. Leoly and Thelma guided the participants through the process and shared their experiences from the 19th GC. They presented the data clearly, incorporating reflections that broadened our understanding of the Congregation's realities. While the data presented were concerning, the message "There is hope, May Pag-asa" offered encouragement. They also emphasized the need for individuals to provide illumination in the face of the current realities of the world, the Church, and religious life. This sharing of different perspectives illuminated the challenges facing the world, the Church, and religious life. Still, one message stood out: "We are called to care in the style of Jesus," and we must be religious who are part of a synodal Church. The morning's sharing by Sr. Leoly and Sr. Thelma brought many aspects to our attention.

Our experience on the first encounter of the determination was touching. We felt challenged and inspired. God is so good. We thank God for the blessing of GC 19th. We beg the Lord to continue to be open and generous as we welcome the 19th GC Determination.

We thank Sr. Leoly and Sr. Thelma, through whom a spark of inspiration has been rekindled within us.
