A Journey in Spirit, Leadership, and Light: Synodal Spirit and Discernment in Common

Leadership in the modern church is not about directing from above but about walking together. On JUNE 27-28, the Hijas de Jesús Sisters, alongside their lay partners and collaborators in the Indico-Pacific Province spearheaded by the Provincial Superior, Sr. Leoly Quitorio, F.I., gathered for a transformative two-day formation training that beautifully captured this spirit. Here are some Images of the Session.

Focused on the pillars of synodal governance, synodal spirituality, and discernment in common, the sessions became far more than an educational seminar—they were a living encounter with Grace. Walking Together in Discernment . The two days were masterfully facilitated by Mr. John Paul Villanueva from the Center of Ignatian Spirituality. With his guidance, the participants plunged into the heart of what it means to be a synodal community.

Synodal governance invites us to shift from traditional, top-down structures to a culture of deep listening, where every voice is valued. Combined with synodal spirituality and the structured, prayerful approach of discernment in common, the atmosphere became a sacred space for shared wisdom.

It was a Sacred Encounter with Faith, Hope, and Joy. What truly defined this two-day gathering was its spiritual atmosphere. The entire experience was deeply steeped in faith, hope, and joy—serving as a real, palpable encounter with God in Jesus, who revealed Himself anew as Father, Light, and Love.

Rather than a dry administrative workshop, the sessions felt like a retreat for the soul, renewing the spirits of everyone present and providing a luminous path forward for the province's leadership. Rootedness and the Charism of St. Candida. This profound encounter bore immediate fruit in the hearts of the participants, deepening a collective desire for a stronger rootedness in Filiation-Fraternity—the beautiful dual reality of recognizing ourselves as beloved children of God (filiation) and brothers and sisters to one another (fraternity).

Ultimately, the training served as a compelling, joyful invitation to nurture and grow the unique charism of St. Candida Maria de Jesus across all the different apostolic centers. Refreshed by the Light and sustained by Love, the Hijas de Jesus and their lay collaborators return to their ministries with a unified vision, ready to lead, listen, and serve in common.
