Celebrating the 152nd Anniversary of the Hijas de Jesus, 25th Anniversary of Religious Profession, and the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

In the heart of our community of Sisters coming from different houses in Metro Manila, a jubilant celebration unfolded, weaving together the threads of history, commitment, and divine grace. The triple-fold event marked the 152nd Anniversary of our cherished institution and the 25th Anniversary of the religious profession of Vows of Srs. Gemma Doguiles ad Lillian Lim, and the glorious commemoration of the Solemnity of Mary, a dogma in the Church proclaimed by Pope Pius IX in 1854. With a foundation of faith and a tapestry of memories, this memorable occasion began with a reverent Holy Eucharist and cascaded into a day of spiritual renewal, joyous reunions, and heartfelt agape.

The day commenced with a Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Edwin Castillo, SJ, with his rather long but very rich spiritual source for deepening of faith, hope, and love. It was preceded by an introduction read by Sr. Gemma Doguiles Gathered in the Manresa Retreat House Chapel, the sisters came together to offer prayers of gratitude for the enduring legacy of 152 years of Congregation, seeking divine blessings for the years ahead. The rich tapestry of songs and prayers echoed through the chapel, binding the present to the past and the future in a seamless harmony.

Within the Eucharistic celebration, Srs. Gemma and Lillian renewed their vows before Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, in the presence of sisters, friends, and community members as witnesses in the symbolic act of renewing their vows. The 25th Anniversary was a poignant milestone, representing a quarter-century of shared joys, triumphs, and challenges and gratitude to God for his faithfulness and love. As vows were reaffirmed and promises echoed through the halls, the spirit of unity radiated, reinforcing the importance of commitment in this journey of religious life.

Lunch followed with an array of delectable but simple dishes brought by every community to share in the joyous occasion. A short but memorable program, games and laughter, a short drama of the life of Mother Candida, and shared memories filled the air, creating a tapestry of connections that transcended time.

In the confluence of anniversaries and divine observance, our community experienced a threefold celebration that was both profound and joyous. The day encapsulated the essence of our shared history, the strength of enduring commitments, and the grace bestowed upon us through the Immaculate Conception under whose loving and maternal protection, Mother Candida placed the Congregation of the Hijas de Jesus.
