Manresa School Learning Continuity Plan

Manresa wishes to welcome back its esteemed parents and beloved students to school year 2020 – 2021. Despite all the challenges posted by the Covid19 pandemic that affected all industries and businesses, the education has to move forward to prepare the future.

Metro Manila had been put under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in March, April, and May. Yet Manresa with its skeletal workforce continued to deliver its services. Students’ grades and report cards were completed and made accessible for viewing online. Eventually, the release of report cards, certificates of recognitions, and medals was facilitated. In the middle of May, the school started already receiving registrations and processing admissions.

When the Department of Education announced that classes for basic education would commence on August 24, 2020, Manresa School, with its commitment to provide quality education with the heart and with its passion in its evangelizing mission started to design its Learning Continuity Plan (LCP). After series of deliberation of the Administration core group and of consultation with parents, represented by the Manresa School Parents Auxiliary (MSPA) officers, the gist of the LCP was communicated to all its clientele via its official Facebook page, Manresa School – Hijas de Jesus.

The LCP focused on seven important aspects: (1) Assessment of the school context; (2) Curriculum and instruction design; (3) Staff capacity-building; (4) Physical plant improvement; (5) Financial adjustment; (6) Communication to clientele; and (7) Monitoring and evaluation. Following the course of actions specified in the LCP, surveys to all stakeholders and sectors were conducted last May to determine their readiness and capability for the ‘new normal’. Simultaneously, facilities were upgraded, new devices were acquired, and the working areas were restructured in preparation for the coming school year.

In June, the technology training of teachers and staff commenced, side by side, with the redesigning of the curriculum. Modified working scheme for the employees was introduced, while health and safety measures were implemented to ensure the well – being of the stakeholders. In the succeeding month, the school released its Online Distance Learning (ODL) primer, while the preparation of teaching materials and the teachers’ academic workshops continue.

The LCP helped the school to adapt innovatively to the changes and challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and to continue the school’s operations by maintaining the availability of resources and the stability of the institution. On top of these, it guided the school to preserve and highlight the Catholic identity of the school according to the charism and spirituality of St. Candida Ma. de Jesus amidst the national crisis.

As the entire Manresa School family prepares for this unfamiliar path this school year, it continues to trust and hold on the consoling words of Mo. Candida saying, “God is our loving Father, and He will take care of us.” By the grace and providence of God, the school believes that all these efforts will bear fruit in the future, resulting to something beautiful and meaningful for the greater glory of His name.
