New Installed Parish Priest of Mary Our Help Parish, Utrail

     Reverend Father Joseph Cosma, a missionary of the Salesian of Don Bosco who hails from Saigon, south of Vietnam, has been appointed parish priest of the Mary our Help Parish, Utrail in Mymensingh Diocese, Bangladesh.

The official installation of Fr. Joseph Cosma as the new parish priest was held on June 20,2021.

He was warmly welcomed as the Parish Priest by the Garo community. Fr. Joseph succeeded Fr. Sebastian Tekkel, SDB, an Indian Missionary.

Due to the restrictions because of increase of Covid19 cases, Bishop Ponen Paul Kubi CSC, the bishop in the Diocese failed to be present during the installation.

Fr. Joseph came to Utrail as missionary in October 2012. Before coming to Bangladesh, he went to ParaƱaque, Philippines in 2010 to learn English for 6 months. Then took his Theological Study at the University Pontifical Salesian (UPS) in Jerusalem. He was ordained priest in June, 2017 at the Mary Our Help Parish, Mymensingh Diocese.

In his talk after the installation rites, Fr. Joseph told the people that we should be one as a Church, as a people of God. He encouraged the parishioners to work in whatever they can to help others, prioritizing the poor villages or small Christian Community. Village leaders, parishioners including the sisters manifested their willingness to collaborate with him.
