“Those who do not love have not known God, for God is love.” (1Jn.4:8)

This word of God is very significant for me. I am very grateful for the love of God that I have received. This love coming from God moves me to share it to others especially those who are most needy of love and care.

This experience is so real and palpable to me when I had my second experience in the novitiate that is “ the experience of Abnegation” last April 23 to May 28, 2019 . I was with the Claretian Sisters in their Center that house of the “ Ternura de Misericordia Associacion Civil”. This center is taking care of 18 abandoned elderly women.

In the letter of Mother Candida, she said that abnegation is the “the other face of love”. A Daughter of Jesus loves Jesus with all heart and as a consequence to her deep experience of God’s love , she desires to be mortified and abnegated in everything.

I am very thankful for my experience of abnegation because through it I was able to encounter the loving face of God , His love and mercy that endures forever. This experience also taught me to embrace different kinds of persons as well as love and value myself. I also learned to respect the lives of others, and to be loving and merciful to all.
I feel strengthened and have grown in trusting God’s providential care.

The experience of abnegation is really going out from one’s personal love, desires and interest. God’s grace indeed sustains and strengthens me despite my limitations. Everything is a gift from God and an opportunity to take care and value what he has given me.

For me it was a grace filled moment, He planted in my heart this desire to collaborate in the building of his Reign here on earth especially now in my novitiate formation. He is forming me to be an authentic Hija de Jesus. The fruit of this experience is a really deep gratitude deeper love of God. I am indeed very thankful to God for all the countless blessings that he had showered upon me.
