Part 4: On Faith

1. part4

Faith is availability; it is a free and binding response to the proposals of God. How great the availability of Abraham and of Mary: “Abraham went as the Lord directed him” (Gn 12:4); “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1,38). Just a few words but what a great commitment and what a risk hidden in them.

Talking about risks, we must say that, also for us, availability in the presence of God becomes, in a way that is deeper and deeper, openness to welcome the risk; the risk implied in abandoning our zone of comfort and of security in order to become open to the future of God’s Providence. It is also the risk of our necessary dreams. Let us remember that God is the greatest dreamer and we dream in communion with him, taking into consideration the following beautiful truth: ‘Blessed are those who dream and while dreaming are committed for their dreams to become true’.
