1938 Blessed Antonia Bandres Juniorate – Postulancy
History of the Hijas de Jesús Formation Communities in Marikina
The Hijas de Jesús Postulancy was first established at the Nazareth Retreat House on November 30, 1938. In 1954, the Postulants were integrated into the community of Manresa Retreat House.
The Juniorate was formally inaugurated on October 12, 1953. Sometime in 1973, it was transferred to Nazareth School, where the following Sisters served as Junior Mistresses at different periods: Sr. Lina Cornelio, Sr. Mary Piamonte, Sr. Rosa Ortega, and Sr. Rebecca Loreto.
In 1997, a new Juniorate House was built in Marikina City. The Marikina Formation House was formally opened in June 1998, bringing together the Aspirancy and Postulancy under one roof.
In 1999, the house became the Juniorate Community, while the Postulancy was transferred to Olandes, IVS, Marikina. At that time, the Juniorate was under the care of Sr. Genoveva Suson, Sr. Fe Linterna, and Sr. Felisa Molina.
In 2005, the Juniorate and Postulancy were once again integrated into one formation community.
In 2015, since there were no Sisters in the first phase of the Juniorate, some professed Sisters from the Angono–Marikina–Parañaque Community stayed in the house. The community continued to serve as a residence for the Sisters until the house was closed from 2019 to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
From July 2021 to July 2024, Marikina once again became a Juniorate Community, with three Juniorate Sisters under the guidance of Sr. Ma. Leoly Quitorio, who served as Junior Mistress. After two years, the Juniorate Sisters entered the second phase of their formation and were assigned to their respective apostolic communities.
In 2024, Marikina became a Postulancy Community, welcoming two Postulants.
Finally, in June 2026, the house once again became the Marikina Community, with four professed Sisters engaged in various apostolic ministries.
