An Inspiration
….In the just reward of labor, God’s will is done; In the help we give our neighbor, God’s will is done.
These lines of hymn 37 at vespers time on a Thursday were an inspiration in the present housing project for the poor, which started last July 16, 2020, Feast of Our Lady of Carmel. This project is dedicated to commemorate the 150th year of the inspiration of Mo. Candida at El Rosarillo. The families of Zone 2 and 4 in Ulaliman, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, beneficiaries of the project, are families who are committed to a weekly BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) in their area. In one BEC sharing in these areas, almost all members shared the generosity of God, or in their own language “ang pagka maggihatagon sa Ginoo,” through the intercession of St. Candida. The families are really grateful that in spite of the pandemic happening in the world, they are still blessed with this generosity from God.
The first batch of 6 houses was blessed last September 8, 2020, by Fr. Greg Leszczk, MIC, on the occasion of the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The second batch of 6 houses from Zone 4 will hopefully be blessed on October 31, 2020. The housing project will target up to the fifth batch of 6 houses each batch. The Hijas de Jesus is grateful to the PAPAL FOUNDATION through the Papal Nuncio, Msgr. Julienne Kabore, Charge d’affaires, a.i.Manila, for the countless opportunities given to help our poor brothers and sisters who are living in poor-condition houses in the area.
