A Blessed Visit, Indeed (Canonical Visit of Sr. Leoly to Thailand)

From August 17 to 21, 2026, our dear Sr. Ma. Leoly made her canonical visit to the Hijas de Jesus Thailand Community here in Mae Hong Son, Thailand. Though brief, her visit was filled with meaningful encounters—with us, her sisters in the community; the JRS-MHS personnel; our refugee brothers and sisters whom we accompany, serve, and collaborate with; some local people; and the beautiful natural surroundings of Mae Hong Son.

These encounters unfolded through both formal and informal conversations, fellowship meals, family gatherings, visits to the camps, and personal interviews. Praying together, the individual dialogues of each sister with Sr. Leoly, table conversations filled with laughter, and our formal community encounter became sacred spaces for listening, sharing, and discerning together.

Through these moments, we were invited to deepen our reflection on our life and mission, our pastoral priorities, and the calls we are receiving at this time. We were also updated with some data on the state of the Indico-Pacific Province-its human, material and financial resources and oriented on recent congregational documents, helping us remain connected to the wider life and journey of the Hijas de Jesus.

Above all, the visit became a grace-filled encounter with the Divine Presence, goodness, and providence. It deepened our relationship as sisters and strengthened our sense of belonging to one Congregation and one shared mission. In simple yet profound ways, it rekindled our hope, renewed our trust in God, and strengthened our faith in the human mediation through which God continues to accompany and guide us.

Perhaps this is one of the quiet gifts of a canonical visit: beyond meetings, conversations, and orientations, it reminds us that we do not walk alone. God continues to visit us through one another—calling us to listen more deeply, love more generously, and walk forward together in hope, openness, and availability.
