A GRACE-FILLED CELEBRATION OF ST. CANDIDA MARIA DE JESUS' FEAST DAY

Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus celebrated the 112th Feast Day of our Mother Foundress last August 9, 2024. Before celebrating her feast day, the Novena Prayers were participated by different sponsoring groups from teachers, students/pupils, and maintenance staff. In the said novena, we reflected on her life as a humble and faithful servant. The theme of the Novena followed her path of Faith, Hope, and Love.

The first day of the Novena, July 31, Feast of St. Ignatius, sponsored by the Elementary Department, was held at their Faculty Room.

On her Feast Day, the Hijas Educative Community gathered at the Henry Sy, Sr. Auditorium, thanking God for giving us St. Candida Maria de Jesus. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Diderick Macaire Andrinjatovo, SVD, who spoke in his homily, the virtues of Mother Candida, particularly her humility, simplicity, and courage in following and doing God's will.

After the Holy Mass, Sr. Felisa M. Molina F.I welcomed the students/pupils and emphasized the importance of FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE in the life of Mother Candida. Mme. Rosalie A. Idulsa the principal, introduced the servant leaders for this school year and the assisting principals introduced the teachers in the different grade levels.

The next day, as part of our celebration, the Hijas de Jesus Sisters hosted a day of fun and relaxation at Cebu White Sands Resort and Spa in Maribago, Mactan Island. The faculty and staff officers organized a special program to warmly welcome the new members of our community. Each department showed unique dance and singing performances. Our Coro de Candida led the opening prayer with their beautiful voices and sang a special song to Mother Mary in Chinese. They also sang a song about the life of Mother Candida participated by the whole community. Various games were organized, with enthusiastic involvement from the entire community.

We are deeply grateful to God for all His blessings and the gift of St. Candida.

May St. Candida intercede for us all.
