An Interactive Exhibit at Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus: Treading the Path of St. Candida Maria de Jesus
In celebration of Mother Foundress’ Month, the Catholic Life Formation (CLF) teachers, organized a reflective and interactive exhibit on the life of St. Candida Maria de Jesus. This unique exhibit featured various stations, each depicting a significant moment in St. Candida's life, offering students the opportunity not just to learn, but to truly "experience" her journey.
The exhibit began with a path marked by forty footsteps, symbolizing the 40-plus years of St. Candida's religious life. As students progressed through the stations, they engaged in tasks that mirrored the real-life experiences of St. Candida, deepening their connection with her story. In the first station, students wove paper, reflecting on Juana Josefa's early life as the daughter of a weaver. The second station involved folding laundry using a t-shirt folder, recalling St. Candida’s time as a household helper in Burgos. At the third station, students wrote inspirational sayings of St. Candida using their non-dominant hand, an activity they found both challenging and enjoyable, as it echoed the struggles St. Candida faced when she first learned to read and write under the mentorship of Fr. Miguel Herranz, SJ. The final station invited students to write a letter or prayer request seeking St. Candida’s intercession, as they reflected on her dedication in founding the Hijas de Jesus Congregation.
This immersive and hands-on experience allowed students to journey alongside St. Candida, embodying her values and life lessons tangibly. It was a memorable and joyful experience for all, as they walked together as a class through the life of St. Candida Maria de Jesus.
May St. Candida intercede for us all!
