CANONICAL VISIT OF PROVINCIAL SUPERIOR IN HAYAMA-TOKYO JAPAN COMMUNITY
The sisters of Hayama House were delighted to welcome Sr. Emelinda Falsis, FI, the Provincial Superior of the Indico-Pacific province, during her canonical visit to the Japan community from October 7 to 17, 2024. Sr. Emelinda began her visit in Hayama from October 7 to 11 and continued in Tokyo from October 12 to 14, accompanied by Sr. Isabel Romero, FI, the Local Superior of Japan.
During her canonical visit, Sr. Emelinda engaged in individual dialogues with the sisters, held meetings with the local council, visited some of the sisters’ apostolates, and provided orientation for those who would attend the Provincial congregation.
This visit allowed Sr. Emelinda to understand the personal realities of the sisters as she listened to their sharing and concerns, uplifting them with her joyful presence. Her visit truly fostered a sense of unity among all the sisters in the province and the different regions as she updated us on the realities of each community through a PowerPoint presentation on the life and mission of Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines during the community encounter last October 17, making us feel a strong sense of a body Congregation.
Taking a break from her schedule, Sr. Lynn with some sisters went to Hiroshima, a well-known historical place in Japan. They got to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall, Hiroshima Castle, Atomic Bomb Dome, and the museum. The visit to these places not only made the sisters understand the unforgettable event that took place many years ago but also led them to pray for all the victims of the atomic bombing that killed more than thousands of people during World War II. With grateful hearts, Sr. Lynn and the sisters expressed their gratitude to the community for the privilege to travel to Hiroshima.
In conclusion, the sisters were very joyful and appreciative of Sr. Lyn’s visit to the community. Thank you, Sr. Lynn, and thank you, God!
