VOCATION PROMOTION IN INDONESIA ON THE GO…

The aspirants and a junior sister of Putri Putri Yesus in Indonesia conducted a series of vocation promotions in Manggarai and East Manggarai regions. They were accompanied by Sr. Marie Sweetwho shared first about the three stages of life. At the same time, the aspirants and a junior sister did the translation from the English language to the Indonesian Language.

FRANSISKA's Reflection:

On January 31, 2025, Sr. Marie and I conducted a vocation promotion in Sita and Borong. It was a great opportunity for me to develop more confidence in speaking in front of many people and to prepare myself for my future mission in Indonesia.

When we traveled to Sita, the road conditions were poor, but we persisted. Although the number of students was less since the school was new,  I am still grateful for the warm welcome from the teachers and students. They were very participative. I was enthusiastic about sharing with them the life of Mo. Candida. Eight students expressed their interest in religious life and asked the sisters for a follow-up.

At SMA Cinta Damai Borong, I was pleased that the school owner facilitated our visit. This time, there were many students, including Grade 11 girls. When I spoke in front of them, they listened attentively and asked questions about the Congregation, which touched me deeply. I am still happy even if only two girls expressed their interest in pursuing this path.

KRISTIANI’s Reflection:

On February 5, 2025, we conducted a vocation promotion at SMA Negeri 1 Poco Ranaka, where I graduated, and SMA Negeri 5 Poco Ranaka. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with my former teachers. Our trip went very smoothly and the weather was pleasant. My heart was filled with joy. Initially, I was very nervous, but when I saw the smiles of the teachers who welcomed us warmly and kindly, that feeling disappeared, and I felt happy and touched.

In the venue, there were many students present, but only a few were interested in learning more about our Congregation. During the question-and-answer portion, one of the students asked me, 'What is your motivation to become a sister?' I was deeply touched by that question and felt inspired and free to share that 'my motivation is to become closer to God and to offer my life solely to God because I know that God is the one who calls me to embrace religious life.

SR. EMERENSIANA’s Reflection:

I am grateful to my cousin, Mr. Save Gantur, a teacher at St. Fransiskus School. He helped us facilitate our schedule for the vocation promotion on February 6, 2025. I felt God's presence that day because it did not rain. We also met Mr. Jereme, one of the teachers there and an ex-seminarian. He helped us propagate our Congregation through his reel account, which has many followers. I hope and pray that many young girls were touched by the life of Mo. Candida. I was a bit disappointed because of the limited time and the fact that the venue was not conducive—it was an open area, and everyone was standing, which made them shy to ask questions. This resulted in less interaction but still, it went well.

KURNIA’S Reflection:

On February 11, 2025, at the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Sr. Marie and I conducted a vocation promotion at Purang School. Even if the weather was not good, I believed that God called us to go to that school, so we went. Before the start of the session, I was nervous and doubtful, especially when Sr. Marie asked me to be her translator. I tried to calm myself through deep breathing exercises. I also asked for God's help to give me courage and to guide my words, so that what I will share would be His will for the students there. After that, I felt calm and confident speaking in front of them. It was easy for me to share with them about the life of Mo. Candida, the Congregation, and my experiences within the community.

During the session, they enjoyed listening to our sharing and were happy. I am so happy because our session brought joy and peace to our hearts. I am grateful because two girls showed interest in our Congregation. I have no regrets about this, as I believe that God truly speaks in their hearts. At least they now understand and know how to discern for the good of their future.
