A Journey of Faith and Fellowship Begins the Panay-Guimaras Youth Encounter

Panay-Guimaras Youth Encounter (PGYE): A Journey of Faith and Fellowship begins the Panay-Guimaras Youth Encounter opened with joyful energy as young participants from across the region gathered, their excitement palpable in the air. Some were reuniting with old friends while others introduced themselves to new faces, all united by their shared purpose. The opening moments were filled with laughter and anticipation, setting the stage for days of spiritual growth and meaningful connections.

The event formally began with the Bible Enthronement ceremony, where the sacred scriptures were placed at the center with reverence. This solemn moment reminded everyone that God's word would guide their journey together. Following this, the opening program brought vibrant energy as each school presented lively chants and cheers, their unique spirits shining while demonstrating their unity in faith.

One of the day's highlights was "Kapatid Ko, Kalaro Ko" - a series of team-building games that had everyone laughing and working together. From the hilarious challenge of dressing while keeping balloons in the air to the cooperative task of drawing using strings, these activities broke down barriers and strengthened bonds. The games weren't just fun; they taught valuable lessons about patience, teamwork, and supporting one another.

As the sun set, the mood transitioned to quiet reflection during the Taizé Prayer. Candlelight flickered as meditative chants filled the space, allowing participants to pause and reconnect with their faith. This peaceful interlude provided spiritual nourishment after the day's energetic activities. Before retiring for the night, the youth prepared sacred spaces in their rooms - personal altars that would serve as reminders of their spiritual journey.

The day concluded with a reflective writing exercise, giving everyone time to process their experiences and prepare their hearts for what lay ahead. These opening days of PGYE beautifully blended excitement and contemplation, fellowship and personal growth. New friendships were forming, faith was being deepened, and spirits were being lifted.

As participants rested that night, they did so with grateful hearts, eager to continue this transformative journey together. The encounter had only just begun, but already its impact could be felt in the laughter, prayers, and shared moments that filled each hour.
