Thank You, Holy Father.
APR 21
"Captured in 2013—the day I saw him up close. Today, I remember him with gratitude and prayer."
This morning, the world received the solemn news of the passing of the Holy Father at the Vatican. As dawn broke over St. Peter’s Square, a profound silence settled in—a silence that speaks not only of sorrow, but also of reverence for a life lived in unwavering service to God and to the Church. The Holy Father, a shepherd to billions, has returned to the house of the Father whom he served so faithfully.
Throughout his papacy, he was a tireless witness to the Gospel, offering hope in times of darkness, clarity in moments of confusion, and compassion to a world in need of mercy. His words stirred the hearts of many, but more than that, his witness—marked by humility, courage, and prayer—became a living homily. Whether addressing the faithful from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica or walking quietly among the poor, he revealed Christ through his presence.
In this moment of loss, the Church enters a time of mourning, but not without hope. For we believe, as he did and as he so often reminded us, in the promise of resurrection. Let us give thanks for his life and entrust him to the mercy and love of the Lord he served. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. AMEN
