GCXIX Opening Mass: A Moment of Communion and Reflection

On April 21, we marked the opening of our General Chapter XIX (GCXIX) in Rome—a deeply significant moment that coincided with the Holy Father's passing. The Mass was live-streamed at 9:30 AM Rome time (3:30 PM in Manila), and sisters from various communities joined the celebration from their respective houses.

Though physically apart, we were united in spirit and prayer. Seated quietly in their residences, the sisters followed the liturgy attentively, their screens reflecting the solemnity of the event and the hope accompanying every new beginning.

Here are some images capturing that beautiful moment of communion and prayer.

This convergence of events—our GCXIX ’s opening and the Holy Father’s passing—invites us into a sacred pause. As we step into this time of discernment, we are reminded of the legacy of those who have gone before us and of the call to carry the mission forward with courage and faith.

In the silence of loss and the stirring of new beginnings, we find hope. Hope that the Spirit continues to lead, that unity in diversity is possible, and that our journeying together at this time, rooted in love and service, will bear fruit for the Church and the world.
