MOTHER GENERAL CROSSES ILOILO STRAIT TO GUIMARAS ISLAND - VISIT @ ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL-HIJAS DE JESUS

The dappled sun shone through the leaves of mango trees creating mysterious shadows on the morning of April 13 - a momentous day for St. Joseph School-Hijas de Jesus. It was the day of the canonical visit of the Superior General of the Hijas de Jesus Congregation, Sr. Graciela Mirta Francovig, accompanied by Sr. Ma. Teresa Pinto Terradillos, one of the four General Counselors. With them were Sr. Emelinda C. Falsis, Provincial Superior of the Indico- Pacific Province, Sr. Nilda G. Genovate, Local Superior of Panay-Guimaras Community/Legal Representative of St. Joseph School-Hijas de Jesus, and Sr. Maria Bema Solis.

The air was full of warm welcome greetings from the whole educative community and a short program was prepared for them. Mrs. Edjie P. Delgado, the principal and Kiesha Leigh Angayen, a Grade 8 student ignited the event with their words of welcome. Selected students from both the Junior and Senior High School Departments showcased their talents through folk and festival dances. On behalf of the entire SJS community, student representatives gave welcome tokens to Sisters Graciela, Teresa, Lynn, and Bema. The PTA Board represented by Engr. Leo Agenga, Mrs. Nora Nava, and Mrs. Susana Gamilong, and on behalf of the Alumni Association Ms. Lina Gano and Ms. Frances Nicole Caoyonan also gave their gifts to the sisters.

The highlight of this program was the message from Mother General where she expressed how grateful and blessed she felt on seeing all the Josephians. She reiterated the saying of our Mother Foundress, “It is my joy to see young boys and girls come to our school to receive a Christian education.”

It was indeed a very memorable and unforgettable experience at St. Joseph School-Hijas de Jesus with Mother General.
