A Two-Day Transmission of the Determination of GC 19 with the Metro Manila Communities

The Hijas de Jesus sisters from the Mater Dei, TCMJ, Marikina, and Metro Manila communities gathered with hearts full of gratitude and hope at Manresa Retreat House, Quezon City, for the transmission of the Determination of GC 19.

The first day opened with a presentation by Sr. Ma. Leoly Quitorio, F.I., and Sr. Gemma Doguiles, F.I., on the process of GC 19, followed by a reflection on the current realities of the Congregation. Through heartfelt sharing, the sisters were invited to reflect more deeply on the data presented, especially the challenging reality of diminishing vocations.

In the afternoon, the community entered into a meaningful prayer ritual, during which each sister received a personal copy of Determination 19. The day concluded with an Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Jason Dy, SJ.

The second day began with a prayer of gratitude for creation, followed by a very enriching group sharing session. The reflections shed light on the sisters’ present realities and deepest desires, all offered with gratitude to God.

The highlight of the day was the session on the Determinations. Each item was presented in detail, giving the sisters the chance to read, reflect, seek clarification, raise questions, and share their insights. The discussion flowed openly, allowing concerns to be voiced and addressed. Each sister also highlighted a phrase or passage that resonated with her and expressed her commitment to live out its call.

The two-day gathering concluded with a solemn ritual that captured the richness of the experience. A heartfelt gesture of embracing one another, filled with joy and thanksgiving, created an atmosphere of hope, affirming their readiness to live out the call of the new Determination of the Congregation.

The transmission is truly enriching, clarifying, and renewing.
I am happy that many Sisters participated in sharing their thoughts, feelings, hopes, desires, and challenges.
The 2-day transmission was held in a very familiar and relaxed atmosphere. I deeply appreciated the communal reading of the Determinations on the second day and the honest exchanges of feelings, comments, questions, and suggestions that followed. I felt they were Spirit-led and Spirit-filled, for they left me with deep peace, joy, and hope for the Indico-Pacific Province in the next six years.
