MANRESA SCHOOL WELCOMES MOTHER GENERAL GRACIELA FRANCOVIG AND GENERAL COUNSELOR, MARIA TERESA PINTO, Part 1
April 18, 2023, marks another day in Manresa School’s rich history of support and love from its congregation. Students gathered early in the morning at Manresa School’s Old Gymnasium to take part and cheer on the welcoming of Hijas De Jesus Superior General, Sr. Graciela Francovig, F.I. along with the General Consultor, Sr. Maria Teresa Pinto, F.I. and the Provincial Superior of Hijas de Jesus Indico-Pacifico, Sr. Emelinda C. Falsis, F.I.
The gathering was led by the Senior High School (SHS) General Student Board and the Junior High School (JHS) Manresa School General Student Board (MSGSB) with Keesha O. Duque, president of SHSGB, and Craig Xander G. Hing, president of MSGSB, as the masters of the ceremony. Before the event started, the students were given country flags from Hijas de Jesus Indico-Pacific countries such as Bangladesh, Japan, and the Philippines. The theme of the event was the Philippines’ own MassKara Festival music and props, and the Hijas de Jesus sisters were welcomed and accompanied by the MSGSB student-leaders to the stage to get them seated and comfortable. The students also gave simple tokens and flowers to the FI sisters. The simple yet heartwarming opening prayer was led by a Grade 5 pupil, Tanya Noelle S. Galolo, while Cailyn S. Bautista, a Grade 11 student gave the opening remarks. Manresa School boasts of students who are gifted and talented and with this, students from the JHS and SHS performed a song called “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. Gabrielle Tan, a Grade 12 student sang the song, accompanied by JHS students, Jacques V. Ausan (Grade 10 student) on piano, Sean Paul S. McMillan (Grade 9) on cello, and Caryl G. Dumlao (Grade 8) on violin.
Superior General Sr. Graciela Francovig, F.I. then stood and started her speech, thanking Manresa School for its warm welcome.
Though their time at the campus was limited, they made sure that they would stop by as they toured the campus and later on had a separate event for Manresa School’s teachers and staff. The singing of Manresa School’s hymn followed. The event ended with a closing prayer led by MSGSB’s Vice President Nickole Beutrix J. Francisco. Pictures were taken to commemorate the event. The celebration indeed strengthened the bond of Manresa School to the Hijas De Jesus’ congregation and God.
