Day 2 – A Day of Sharing a Taste of Thailand
The second day of the gathering opened with a rich cultural and mission-focused presentation, offering a glimpse into the life and work of the Hijas de Jesus in Thailand. Sr. Elvie, in a typical costume of the refugee, shared insights about the sisters' life and mission in the country.
She highlighted their collaborative efforts with the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Mae Hong Son, a mission that brings hope and support to displaced individuals and families. She showed the sisters a brief video presentation featuring the community's daily life and dedicated service. The visuals brought to life the meaningful work of the sisters among refugees, inducing appreciation and gratitude for their commitment.
As a token of appreciation and to share a piece of Thailand with the group, Sr. Elvie presented each sister with a beautifully crafted memento – a small shoulder bag, just the right size for carrying cell phones and other small personal items. This thoughtful gesture served as a reminder of Thailand's mission and cultural richness.
The sharing concluded with the sisters expressing their sincere thanks, feeling enriched by the stories and inspired by the example of their fellow sisters in Thailand.
