Transmission of the 19th General Congregation’s Determination to the Panay-Guimaras Community

With a spirit of openness and gratitude, the sisters gathered for a two-day encounter focused on the transmission of the 19th General Congregation’s Determination. The meeting provided not only an opportunity to deepen understanding of the Congregation’s call but also a space to discern together the ways of embodying its message in community life and mission.

On the first day, Sr. Leoly helped us appreciate the sacredness of the 19th General Congregation, beginning with its opening Eucharistic celebration and the spirit of communion it expressed. She also presented the committees, speakers, and some data on the current state of the Congregation.

Sr. Felisa, in turn, invited reflection on the meaning of “determination” and presented the Congregation’s new Determination — “I DESIRE TO BE CALLED THE DAUGHTERS OF JESUS” — along with its articles and the recommendation to update the document Our Characteristic Way of Educating.

The sessions were marked by moments of prayer, reflection, and sharing, allowing the participants to connect the GC’s invitation with the realities of their daily apostolic commitments. Through attentive listening and dialogue, the sisters were able to draw out insights and concrete orientations that would help shape their responses for the coming sexennial.

A solemn closing rite marked the end of the encounter. Two sisters from the same community were invited to come forward and offer before the portrait of the Mother Foundress the written commitment formulated by the group in the light of the GC’s Determination. Alongside this, a lighted candle was placed — a symbol of faith and hope, illuminating the plans of action discerned for the next six years.

With hearts full of gratitude to the Lord for this rich and meaningful experience, the sisters returned to their respective communities renewed in spirit. They carried with them the hope and desire to enflesh and internalize the 19th General Congregation’s Determination, both in their fraternal life and in their mission of service.
