AKE NO HOSHI Celebrated the Shichi-Go-San Festival
Shichi- Go- San (literally “seven- five- three”), is a Japanese custom observed on November 15 in which seven-year-old girls and five - year old boys visit shrines to pray for health and prosperity as they grow.
On November 9, 2022, AKE NO HOSHI celebrated the Shichi- Go- San festival with two batches of young boys and girls in attendance. It was held in the parish of Zushicatorrikku Kyokai, Hayama, with Fr. Hosoi Shinpu Sampa, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. They were accompanied by their parents who actively participated in the celebration, especially in the recitation of prayers and the singing of the Ave Maria songs.
Fr. Hosoi Shinpu Sampa, the parish priest explained to the parents the significance of the ceremony and how important their role is in the formation of the children. He emphasized that children are special gifts from God and that God is very happy seeing them being cherished and loved by their parents. He then told the children that God is helping their parents take care of them so that they will grow and become very good children.
The highlight of the celebration was when Father Hosoi Shinpu Sampa blessed the children and those who were with them. After the blessing, each one of them was given a medal of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a remembrance. The children received and wore the medal with love and pride as they show it to their parents and those who were present in the celebration.
The morning ended as Srs. Angeles Kaneko and Isabel Romero expressed their congratulatory words to the children and parents. They also thanked the teachers who prepared the children and made the event memorable and significant for everyone.
