“Kapehan sa Kumbento”

One beautiful Monday afternoon, on October 18, 2O26,the sisters of Manresa School happily welcomed four of their female teachers for an informal “greet and chat over a cup of coffee” at their convent time at 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Elaine Extramadura , Gail Espinas and Jenna Jamolo and Drew Nicolette Corpuz excitedly rang the convent’s doorbell that afternoon, and greeted the sisters. As they entered the convent’s receiving room, the sisters warmly invited them to sit comfortably on their simple native sofa and served them coffee, biscuits and some sweets.

The four young women immediately felt at home and conversed with the sisters “over a cup of coffee” not only for two hours as scheduled but extended for another hour! They chatted, laughed, cracked jokes and enjoyed their company that they did not notice the time.

For the first time, Elaine, Gail, Drew and Jenna were very happy to be with the sisters in a different setting . Their daily encounters with the sisters are usually with smiles, short greetings of “Hi” and Hello” at school corridors and quick talks at school meetings. This time, this “Kapehan” is a new and a very beautiful chance to be with the sisters and talk with them about “anything under the sun ” in a relax and leisurely way.

The young teachers were very thankful to Sisters Nori, Lorna, Gemma, Fely, Tessie and Felie for opening their convent to them and giving them the opportunity to get to know each other in a more personal and friendly way.

Jenna said,” I am happy to be with the sisters. They were very welcoming… I Iiked listening to their funny stories. It is my first time to enter the convent, the sisters’ house. Really, I enjoyed their company ! Indeed, more of “Kapehan Sa Kumbento” has to come for it is a good chance to make people who start as “strangers” end as “friends” !!!
