A Commemoration of Devotion, Grace, and Holiness: Jamesians, Living Icons of Faith
The Jamesians held their annual tribute to the saints on October 28, 2026, as the community gathered for a special program themed “Living Icons of Faith: The Saintly Costume.” This celebration provided students with an opportunity to embody the saintly spirit and its core values as they proudly displayed their saint-themed outfits.
The activity was an interdisciplinary collaboration between Christian Living Education and Values Education across Grades 7–10. By working together, the two subject areas made performance tasks more manageable while providing students with meaningful learning experiences. Instead of simply reading about the lives of saints, students were given the opportunity to learn about them in a more creative, engaging, and memorable way.
Students devoutly showcased their saint portrayals through presentations and monologues. One student from each section represented and introduced their featured saint. The audience was in awe as they listened to the presentations and admired the varied saints portrayed by the students. To keep the joyful energy alive, the students also joined in a community dance before the program drew to a close.
Beyond the costumes and presentations, the activity reminded everyone that saints are more than just icons represented by costumes. They are examples of how faith can transform lives and inspire others. By learning about their experiences and sharing their stories, students were encouraged to reflect on their own faith and how they could live it out in their daily lives.
The program reflected piety, grace, and righteousness in the Jamesian community. It allowed learners to expand their knowledge about the saints, deepen their Christian values, and strengthen their relationship with God. As the celebration came to an end, the students did not only walk home with new lessons but also carried sincere inspiration to live out the virtues shown by the saints in their daily lives.
For the saints are not only people we remember, but witnesses of faith who remind us of who we are called to become.
