F.I. Schools Conversation via Zoom

The Hijas de Jesus Schools conducted an online conversation via Zoom on October 16, 2026, with the theme “Called to Care, Committed to Protect: A Conversation on Safety and Security in Hijas de Jesus Schools.” The activity aimed to strengthen the shared responsibility of faculty and staff in creating safe, secure, and caring school communities; learn from the experiences and best practices of other Hijas de Jesus schools; reflect on existing safety and security practices; and identify practical strategies to strengthen safeguarding and a culture of care.

The program began with the virtual arrival of participants, followed by an opening prayer led by Mr. Jojit Ledesma of Manresa School. Dr. Rodilla L. Tumanda gave the welcome remarks and recognized participants. Sr. Leoly Quitorio, F.I., Provincial Superior of the Indico-Pacifico Province, delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the importance of commitment and shared responsibility in protecting members of the school community. Mrs. Edna Giner then introduced the resource speakers.

The highlight of the conversation was the sharing of safety and security practices by three resource speakers: Ms. Brenda Garces, GSO Coordinator of Sacred Heart – Hijas de Jesus, Cebu; Sr. Dina Galaura, F.I., Principal of Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción, Pototan; and Ms. Rhodora Edullantes, Security and Safety Head of Stella Maris Academy of Davao. They shared their respective schools’ experiences and practices, providing participants with valuable insights and ideas that could be adapted to strengthen their own school safety and safeguarding initiatives.

An open forum, facilitated by Mrs. Rosalie Idulsa, followed the presentations and provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, raise questions, and reflect on practical ways to improve their schools’ existing policies and practices. Dr. Rodilla L. Tumanda delivered the words of gratitude, acknowledging the resource speakers and participants for their valuable contributions. The activity concluded with a closing prayer led by Sr. Gemma Doguiles, F.I.

Overall, the conversation provided a meaningful opportunity for collaboration, reflection, and professional learning among Hijas de Jesus schools. It reinforced the understanding that ensuring safety and security is a shared responsibility and an essential expression of the congregation’s educational mission. The insights gained are expected to guide participating schools in identifying concrete actions to enhance safety, security, safeguarding, and a culture of care within their respective communities.
