SMAD celebrates St. Candida’s 109th Feast Day
Celebrating special feast days helps bring the liturgical life of the church into the life of the educative family. It is a way to make the celebration a vibrant living thing for everyone in the community.
This year’s celebration of St. Candida’s 109th Feast Day started with a 9-day novena from July 31- to August 8 and culminated with a Live Holy Mass in the school chapel via Google Meet at 7:30 in the morning of August 9, 2021, concluding with a prayer for the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation of the Hijas de Jesus. Fr. Ritschie Gamaya, DCD, officiated the liturgy, which was attended by the students, teachers, guests, maintenance personnel, and administration.
Stella Maris Academy of Davao is constantly grateful for all the many blessings received amidst challenges. This year, to celebrate the occasion, the school reaches out to 250 workers from Barangay Dacudao and the prisoners and Policemen of Sta. Ana Police Precinct by giving them freshly cooked hot bread and drinks. It was done on the afternoon of August 10, 2021.
The school trusts that when we lend a hand to others, we are essentially reaching out to do what God wants us to do because He wants us to be stewards of His creations.
In this time of the pandemic, the school seeks to extend its hand to the community in need of care and attention during these difficult times.
Gratitude is an inherent value that improves the quality of life, making existence more sensible. It enhances the worth of our personal lives and strengthens our bonds with family and friends. Moreover, it helps us realize that we share a common humanity that unites us in times like these, reminding us of our “Proyekto de Misión Común” saying, “To project the Humble and Compassionate Face of Christ.”
